Three hurt in bank after auxiliary cop accidentally discharges gun

JASIN: Two women customers of a bank and a security guard were hurt after an auxiliary policeman accidentally discharged his pump gun.

Jasin OCPD Deputy Supt Ahmad Jamil Radzi said that following the 12.55pm Tuesday (Sept 5) incident, the auxiliary policeman had been detained.

Preliminary investigation had found that there was negligence in handling the firearm.

He said the shot struck the two women, aged 26 and 46, and a 26-year-old security guard.

DSP Ahmad Jamil said it was fortunate that the victims only sustained minor injuries and were able to receive immediate medical treatment.

He said the 59-year-old suspect had accompanied the management team of the plantation conglomerate where he works to collect cash for the staff payroll.

“The suspect has been an employee with the plantation for the past 13 years,” he said, adding that the incident was being investigated under Section 39 of the Arms Act 1960.
