Neighbours' tiff escalates into street brawl in Klang

KLANG: A misunderstanding between two neighbours sparked a huge street brawl at a housing area near Jalan Tepi Sungai here.

Several videos of the incident have been circulating on social media and messaging apps.

One video shows a group of men getting out of a black MPV and confronting the complainant and his family members.

The group from the car then starts shouting and forces the house gate open, with a scuffle ensuing.

South Klang OCPD Asst Comm Cha Hoong Fong said police received a report on the incident at 9.33pm on Sunday (Sept 3).

"The complainant, a 57-year-old man, claimed he was walking towards his home at around 6pm on that day when one of his neighbours tried to get his attention in a harsh manner.

"The complainant was unhappy with this and reprimanded his neighbour," he said in a statement on Tuesday (Sept 5).

He said this sparked a verbal argument between the two men and the neighbour called a few of his friends to come to the scene.

"During this time, some of the complainants' family members also arrived in front of his house.

"Moments later, a group of men arrived and beat up the complainant and his family members in their house compound.

"The suspects also threw stones at the complainant and his relatives," he said, adding that the suspects were also believed to have brandished weapons during the incident.

He said the complainant and two of his family members suffered minor injuries.

"We immediately opened an investigation for rioting with weapons and have arrested five men aged between 25 and 52 on Tuesday to help with investigations.

"Checks revealed three of the suspects have criminal records," he said, adding that they would be remanded.

"We urge the public to stop circulating the videos (of the brawl) which could cause public anxiousness.

"Those with information on the case should contact the South Klang police at 03-3376 2222," he said.
