PETALING JAYA: Former Kelantan deputy mentri besar Datuk Mohd Amar Nik Abdullah has been appointed as the Speaker of the 15th term of the Kelantan state assembly.
The Panchor assemblyman took his oath of office before the state assembly on Tuesday (Sept 5) morning, Malay language daily Sinar Harian reports.
The daily also reported that Kok Lanas assemblyman Datuk Mohamed Farid Mohamed Zawawi had been appointed as Deputy Speaker.
Mohd Amar had served as deputy mentri besar from 2013 but was not reappointed after the recent state polls.
