IPOH: A 17-year-old has been arrested by the police here for allegedly murdering his friend.

Hilir Perak OCPD Asst Comm Ahmad Adnan Basri said the deceased has been identified as a 21-year-old man who was found murdered on Aug 20.

ACP Ahmad Adnan said the two are friends who stayed at the same residential area in Teluk Intan.

“The reason for the crime is due to jealousy. The suspect killed the man as he was jealous because the victim had been disturbing his 20-year-old girlfriend,” he added.

He said the police managed to solve the case in 48 hours, and added that the suspect was arrested on Aug 26 in Hutan Melintang.

This comes after ACP Ahmad Adnan said last Thursday that the body of a man with no documents was found in a drain at Jalan Pasir Kampung Sungai Payung Baroh in Rungkup.

He said the body was discovered by the public at 4.48pm lying face-down in a drain near an oil palm plantation.

“There were various injuries on his hands, legs and neck and the body was decomposed; the identity could not be ascertained then,” said ACP Ahmad Adnan.

“A post mortem carried out at the Raja Permaisuri Bainun Hospital revealed that the victim died due to cuts to the head and neck,” he added.

The suspect has been remanded for a week from the date of arrest, and the case is being investigated under Section 302 of the Penal Code.
