KOTA KINABALU: Labuan Corporation announced that it has approved a 50% discount on rental rates for commercial premises owned by the corporation on level 1 and 2 of Labuan Central Market and surrounding areas.

The other premises included those in the pork market, bus station and taxi station next to the central market, said Labuan Corporation in a statement here.

“The board meeting chaired by Labuan Corporation chairman Senator Tan Sri Anifah Aman today has approved the 50% discount.

“This is among the early initiatives given attention by the chairman and corporation members which were newly appointed on June 19 this year.

“A total of RM364,560 has been allocated to accommodate this discount, which will be effective for a period of one year, starting from Jan 1 to Dec 31, 2023,” said the Corporation in the statement on Friday (July 14).

The initiative is expected to benefit 178 lots of commercial premises owned by the corporation including 151 stalls on Level 1, 13 stalls on Level 2, 10 kiosk units (near dry food product sales counters), three stalls at the bus and taxi stations, and one pork market.

“Labuan Corporation is always concerned and responsive to the complaints of traders.

“Therefore, it is hoped that this discount will provide relief in their efforts to recover their sources of income,” it added.
