KUALA LUMPUR: Datuk Seri Muhammad Sanusi Md Nor has become the latest politician to be investigated for touching on issues involving race, religion and royalty (3R).

Bukit Aman CID’s 3R Task Force will look into a speech by the Kedah Mentri Besar which is alleged to have belittled the Sultan of Selangor’s appointment of Mentri Besar Datuk Seri Amirudin Shari.

“We opened an investigation paper into Muhammad Sanusi for touching on 3R issues.

“We will conduct our investigation into this matter swiftly and refer it to the Attorney General’s Chambers (AGC) for further action,” said Inspector-General of Police Tan Sri Razarudin Husain yesterday.

He said that since March 27, a total of 61 investigation papers had been opened on cases involving 3R issues.

“The others being investigated include former prime minister Tun Dr Mahathir Mohamad, DAP chairman Lim Guan Eng and PAS president Tan Sri Abdul Hadi Awang,” he said.

Razarudin added that the task force comprised 21 personnel and officers.

He also said police had observed that issues touching on the 3Rs were now being raised more often as the state elections draw near.

“We want to advise people to refrain from touching on such sensitive issues which could threaten national harmony,” he said.
