State polls: DAP to contest in all incumbent seats in Penang, says Loke

BALIK PULAU: DAP will be contesting in all their incumbent seats in the coming state elections, said DAP secretary-general Anthony Loke.

Loke said there have not been any big changes for DAP in the coming state elections.

"The seats have not had any big changes and we will be contesting in all the seats that were won by DAP in the previous elections," he said during a press conference held after giving out licences under the MyLesen B2 national programme for motorcyclists at a driving school in Balik Pulau here on Saturday (July 8).

Loke, who was the transport minister, was responding to queries on how many seats DAP would be contesting in the coming state elections next month.

Loke said while they have not counted the number of seats, Penang has 19.

"So they will contest in those," he said.

Polling for Negri Sembilan, Selangor, Penang, Kedah, Kelantan and Terengganu was on Aug 12.

On the list of nominees, Loke said he had yet to receive the names from all six states.

"I have not received the list of nominees in each state.

"It should happen as soon as there are three weeks left," he said.

The MyLesen B2 programme was launched to help the B40 group obtain a Class B2 licence and it is one of the initiatives under the 2023 Budget implemented by the Transport Ministry through the Road Transport Department (JPJ).

A total of RM2.7mil was allocated in the MyLesen B2 programme and a total of 9,000 candidates from the B40 group are expected to benefit from the initiative.
