TAIWANESE celebrity Nono could face criminal charges for sexual assault after the Taipei district prosecutor’s office launched an investigation against him, reported Sin Chew Daily.

It is understood that more than 20 women have come forward to accuse the 52-year-old of assault.

One of the victims, a live-streamer named Anissa, has begun legal proceedings against him at the prosecutor’s office.

It said that the Women and Children Unit will be conducting an investigation into Nono for “crimes against sexual autonomy.”

They said they would not rule out asking him to come forward to record his statement.

The prosecutor’s office assured the public that it would safeguard the victims by not repeatedly asking them about their sexual assault to prevent them from unnecessarily reliving their trauma.

In Taiwan, a person convicted of having sexual intercourse “by threats, violence, intimidation, inducing hypnosis, or other means” could be sentenced to between three and 10 years in jail.

When news of Nono’s alleged sexual assault came to light, outraged people bombarded his Instagram account and demanded that he hold a press conference to apologise.

He deleted his account shortly after in response.
