Enjoy your retirement, Michael Chong tells Acryl Sani

PETALING JAYA: Datuk Seri Michael Chong has wished Tan Sri Acryl Sani Abdullah Sani all the best and to enjoy his retirement after he stepped down as Inspector-General of Police.

"I have known Tan Sri since his superintendent days in Bukit Aman. We got to know each other some 20 years ago and have also worked together in the Malaysian Crime Prevention Foundation (MCPF) with him as the deputy chairman and myself as the advisor for the Kuala Lumpur branch.

"I wish him the very best," the MCA Public Services and Complaints Department head said when contacted.

He added that both shared a very good working relationship.

Acryl Sani, who took the mantle of the country's top police officer from Tan Sri Abdul Hamid Bador in June 2021, was supposed to end his tenure as IGP in October but chose to retire earlier.

Regarding the two new top police officers,

Chong said that Inspector-General of Police Tan Sri Razarudin Husain and his deputy Datuk Seri Ayob Khan Mydin Pitchay are no strangers to the public.

"The new IGP has a reputation of being a 'no-nonsense man'. I look forward to working with him on issues such as overseas job scams and the human trafficking of Malaysians.

"Datuk Ayub and I have known each other since his time in the Counter-Terrorism Division of the Special Branch. This is a man who has risked his life for his country and is also a very straight police officer.

"It is a highly deserved post," he said.
