KUALA LUMPUR: The handover-of-duties and “beating-of-retreat” ceremonies planned for Inspector-General of Police Tan Sri Acryl Sani Abdullah Sani (pic) will be held on Thursday (June 22).

It was initially reported that the ceremonies would be postponed to the first week of July.

Sources revealed that both ceremonies are expected to take place at the Police Training Centre (Pulapol) on Jalan Semarak.

"Initially it was postponed but the latest information received is that it is back on. The ceremonies will be held on Thursday," sources said.

It was previously reported that Home Minister Datuk Seri Saifuddin Nasution Ismail had presented the names of candidates for the posts of IGP and Deputy IGP to the Yang di-Pertuan Agong Al-Sultan Abdullah Ri'ayatuddin Al-Mustafa Billah Shah.

The meeting was held at Istana Negara and it was held for more than an hour, starting at 2.45pm on Tuesday (June 20).

It is learnt that the name presented for IGP was Tan Sri Razarudin Husain – the current Deputy IGP.

Acryl Sani, who took the mantle of the country's top cop from Tan Sri Abdul Hamid Bador in June 2021, was supposed to end his tenure as IGP in October but chose to retire earlier.
