No application for more Coldplay concerts, says Deputy Tourism Minister

Peminat mula teruja bercampur bimbang bila konsert berlangsung selama enam hari di Singapura.

The organiser of Coldplay’s concert has not made any applications for more shows, says Khairul Firdaus Akbar Khan.

The Deputy Tourism, Arts and Culture Minister was responding to news that the popular British band had added a sixth concert date for its stop in Singapore.

In Malaysia, there will only be one show, so far.

"We have not received any applications for more shows to the concert tour other than the established date," he said when launching the Tourism Licensing and Enforcement System (TOURLIST) here on June 20.

"Any decision has to comply with the standard operating procedure," he added.

Khairul said every state has its own requirement and regulations in giving out performance permits involving international artistes.

"Some states are strict with their regulations, while others have more leeway.

"However, the ministry will do its best to ease the application process for international concert performers," he added.

Coldplay will be performing at the Bukit Jalil National Stadium in Kuala Lumpur on Nov 22.

It is the band’s first concert in Malaysia during their Asia leg of the Music Of The Spheres World Tour.
