Auxiliary cop killed while assisting driver on second Penang bridge

NIBONG TEBAL: An auxiliary policeman has been killed while assisting a driver whose car had broken down on the Sultan Abdul Halim Muadzam Shah Bridge.

In a statement on Wednesday (June 14), Jambatan Kedua Sdn Bhd (JKSB) said the deceased Musyiri Bakar, 49, was helping a driver whose car had broken down at KM11.6 island-bound at about 8.30am.

"A five-tonne lorry which went out of control crashed into a JKSB four-wheel vehicle, which knocked into Musyiri," the statement read.

Musyiri was thrown to the motorcycle lane and was hit by a motorcycle.

The victim, who had been working as a JKSB auxiliary policeman for about 10 years, was killed on the spot.

The motorcyclist was slightly injured while the driver of the broken-down car was not injured.

Musyiri's remains will be laid to rest at Masjid Jamek Tasek Junjung cemetery after Asar prayers on June 14.
