10% of 3,000 applicants get PPR homes

ONLY 10% of the 3,000 annual applicants for Kuala Lumpur City Hall’s (DBKL) People Housing Project (PPR) get their homes, says Datuk Seri Anwar Ibrahim.

The Prime Minister said this was a serious issue, adding that all approved projects must include affordable residences.

“I will ask DBKL to adjust the criteria for those eligible to allow their partners who are foreign nationals to own these homes,” he said during Question Time.

Anwar was responding to a question by Fong Kui Lun (PH-Bukit Bintang) on whether the DBKL criteria was too strict. To a question by Datuk Mohd Suhaimi Abdullah (PN-Langkawi) on whether the government planned to streamline the large number of housing agencies, Anwar said there was an effort to form panels to merge agencies under the deputy prime ministers.
