Footage of 'mat rempit' hitting car in Penang goes viral

GEORGE TOWN: Footage of a motorcyclist who ran through a red light and hit a car here has gone viral on social media.

Two short videos, one six seconds and another nine seconds long, show two bikers going at high speed along the Tun Dr Lim Chong Eu Expressway.

The biker in front is seen performing the "superman" stunt and both continue speeding as they approach a traffic light which is showing red.

A car making a right turn coming from the opposite direction suddenly appears and the first biker, unable to slow down or stop, rams into the car while the second motorcyclist just manages to avoid hitting the vehicle.

Police have yet to release a statement on the incident.

On July 17, 2022, five men were killed and two motorcyclists were seriously injured in an accident involving several motorcycles and two cars on the Tun Dr Lim Chong Eu Expressway while being involved in dangerous riding.
