Several states to get new Bomba chiefs

IPOH: Several states are set to get new Fire and Rescue Department directors, says Datuk Nor Hisham Mohamad.

The department's deputy director-general for development said the changes were due to retirements and promotions involving its officers.

"Among those to have new directors are Perak, Johor, Kedah, Putrajaya and Selangor.

"Perak's Azmi Osman has retired and will be replaced with former Kedah director Sayani Saidon. Sayani will begin her duties on June 2," he told reporters at the Perak Fire and Rescue Department headquarters in Meru here on Thursday (June 1).

In 2019, Sayani became the first female Fire and Rescue Department director in Kedah.

Prior to her position in Kedah, she was the Perak Fire and Rescue Department acting director.

Azmi became the Perak chief on March 15, 2019.

"Azmi recorded stellar performance throughout his 26-year career. He will be missed by all of his colleagues," he said.
