Kulai man arrested for rape after 15-year-old delivers stillborn baby in toilet

KULAI: An 18-year-old teenager was arrested to help with investigations regarding a rape case involving a 15-year-old girl at Murni Jaya, Layang-Layang here.

Kulai OCPD Supt Tok Beng Yeow said the incident started on May 15 at 1.30am after a 56-year-old woman lodged a police report on the case.

"The woman had heard her 15-year-old daughter screaming in pain inside the toilet. Upon inspection, there was a foetus inside the toilet bowl. The woman then brought her child together with the foetus to the Sultanah Aminah Hospital for treatment," he said in a statement here on Monday (May 22).

The postmortem revealed that the foetus was 28 weeks old, and there were no signs of forced labour or injury to the foetus, he informed.

Supt Tok added that the victim then revealed that she had been raped by a known suspect behind their house.

A follow-up arrest was then made on the same day at 6pm to an 18-year-old male at a house in Kampung Paya, Layang-Layang, he informed.

"On May 22, the suspect was charged at the Sessions Court in Johor Baru under Section 376(2) of the Penal Code for rape, which carries not more than 30-year imprisonment and whipping upon conviction.

"He, however, pleaded not guilty to the charge and was offered RM15,000 bail with one surety," he said, adding that the court then set June 26 for the case's remention.
