Comm Mohd Shuhaily said the culprits had robbed the victim of jewellery and mobile phone before escaping with the female accomplice who had been waiting outside the laundrette.

He said following the report, police detained the suspect and his girlfriend, who were both in their 20s, at a hotel in Butterworth at 5.15pm on May 4.

"We also arrested another woman who we believed to be an accomplice at the same hotel," he said, adding investigations found the group targeted foreigners in their criminal activities.
