Fisherman killed in croc attack

SIBU: The body of a fisherman, believed to be the latest victim of a crocodile attack in Sungai Batang Oya, was found at midnight.

Dalat OCPD Deputy Supt Saga Chunggal said the body of Roslin Madale, 58, from Kampung Boom Oya in Mukah, about 180km from here, was found by villagers using the traditional technique of pulling a hook in the river at 12.30am yesterday.

A police team rushed to the scene after receiving an emergency call about the crocodile attack at 11.26pm on Friday, Bernama reported.

“Roslin’s body was sent to Dalat Hospital and an examination by a doctor revealed that the injuries were consistent with those seen in many crocodile attack cases,” he said in a statement.

The attack occurred at 10.30pm when the victim went prawn fishing in the river, he said.
