PETALING JAYA: Former national women’s shuttler Datin Wong Mew Choo has received a surprise birthday greeting coming from none other than the Manchester United football club.

In a post on Tuesday (May 2), the club's official social media account posted a picture of Mew Choo, together with her husband, badminton ace Datuk Lee Chong Wei, and their three children with the whole family clad in the Manchester United's third kit.

"Happy birthday Datin Mew Choo! Thank you Datuk @leechongwei too for supporting us!

"We’re chasing for third place!" the post said in reference to the Red Devils who were currently placed fourth in the English Premier League behind league leaders Manchester City, Arsenal and Newcastle United respectively.

The post has since gotten more than 83,000 likes on Instagram and close to 650 shares on Facebook at press time.

On Monday (May 1), Chong Wei penned a heartfelt note to his wife, Mew Choo, on her birthday, reminiscing about their time in school and the early days of their relationship.

Chong Wei also shared how he would wait for her at the staircase area of their hostel to talk to her, and grabbing her hands to run up the stairs when hearing outsiders coming.
