BANTING: Seeing her three daughters drown in Port Dickson while she stood helpless is a nightmare K. Anchalay, 52, wishes to wake up from.

“It happened right before my eyes, and I could not do anything to save my children.

“I went happily for the outing with my three beautiful daughters but came back home a broken woman accompanied by their remains,’’ wept Anchalay.

R. Kalaivani, 30, R. Dawagi, 29, and R. Sathiyadevi, 19, could not be resuscitated after they were pulled out of the sea by members of the public.

Anchalay recalled how the sea at the spot where the three sisters were swimming with their brother Veeran, 26, and Kalaivani’s fiance Sathiswaran, 29, suddenly turned erratic.

“They were just sucked under the water. I cannot erase that scene from my mind, even though I am trying very hard to do so,’’ she added.

Both Veeran and Sathiswaran were pulled out in time and survived the ordeal.

Anchalay, who works as a cleaner and earns RM1,500 a month, said she did not know how she was going to stay in the house she shared with Dawagi and Sathiyadevi.

“I can picture them in every room of the house.

“I do not want to live here anymore, but according to custom, I have to remain here until the first-year death anniversary prayers have been completed,’’ she said.

The children’s father, S. Ravi, 48, said his wife, son and daughters had gone on the outing without his knowledge.

“If they had asked me, I would not have allowed them to go, as I was feeling very uneasy that day,’’ he added.

Ravi wept as he related being separated from his family when serving an eight-year jail term from 2007 to 2014.

Five of the couple’s six children were sent to a children’s home in Perak, while Anchalay lived in a rented room with their youngest child, Sathiyadevi.

“My wife and I had gone through so many difficulties and suffered emotionally from being separated from our children.

“We have only been happy together for the past six years, but that has ended abruptly and so unkindly with my children’s deaths,’’ said Ravi, who lives at his workplace in Klang.

He said he was now worried about his wife, as she would be left alone in the house.

Besides the three deceased sisters and Veeran, the couple has another son, Kathirevan, 28, and a daughter, Thanalakshmi, 27.
