Covid-19: No plans to introduce new SOP for Hari Raya, says Dr Zaliha

KULAI: The government has no plans to introduce a special set of Covid-19 standard operating procedures (SOP) for Hari Raya Aidilfitri, says Dr Zaliha Mustafa (pic).

The Health Minister said despite the increasing number of Covid-19 cases in recent weeks, there was no cause for panic.

“With the festive season coming up and house visits expected, the public is advised to wear a face mask especially when they display symptoms. Do seek medical treatment immediately if so, and continue performing self-tests to monitor yourselves,” said Dr Zaliha.

“Besides that, we encourage the people to continue keeping good personal hygiene when going out and about during the festive season,” she added when speaking to the media during her working visit to Hospital Temenggong Seri Maharaja Tun Ibrahim here on Thursday (April 20).

On a separate issue, Dr Zaliha said a few potential names have been submitted for the replacement of Tan Sri Dr Noor Hisham Abdullah who will retire as the Health director-general on Friday (April 21).

“Please be patient as a few names have been proposed. I will announce his replacement soon,” she added.

Dr Noor Hisham clocked out at the ministry for the last time after 35 years of service and contribution to public healthcare.

He is regarded as a national hero for his handling of the Covid-19 pandemic in Malaysia.

Dr Noor Hisham was also the recipient of the 1442H/2020 Tokoh Maal Hijrah Award at the national level.
