KUALA LUMPUR: US-headquartered digital infrastructure firm DigitalBridge Group is expected to start investing more than RM4bil in Malaysia’s infrastructure sector by the end of 2023, says Datuk Seri Anwar Ibrahim.

The Prime Minister said DigitalBridge invests in data centres, telecommunication towers and fibre-optic networks.

“According to a Knight Frank white paper, Malaysia’s digital infrastructure growth is the fastest (among five emerging markets in South-East Asia) with 113 megawatts of take-up just in 2022, or four times that of Thailand,” he shared in a Facebook post yesterday, Bernama reported.

Anwar said he recently received a visit from a DigitalBridge delegation, adding that he would remain committed to ensuring a clean and conducive ecosystem to facilitate businesses and investments in the country.

In Kuala Nerus, Terengganu, Anwar took the opportunity to meet visitors and traders at the Ramadan bazaar in Gong Badak.

He arrived at about 5.10pm to visit the stalls and greet traders and visitors, apart from purchasing delicacies such as kuih akok for the breaking of fast.

Among those who accompanied him were Mentri Besar Datuk Seri Dr Ahmad Samsuri Mokhtar as well as several state executive councillors.
