Cops arrest babysitter for allegedly abusing two kids in Seri Kembangan

SERDANG: Police have arrested a 24-year-old woman for allegedly abusing two children who were under her care.

Serdang OCPD Asst Comm AA Anbalagan said they were alerted to the incident after a video was posted on TikTok showing images of the two children, aged four and seven, who had allegedly been abused while they were at their babysitter's house in Seri Kembangan.

"Investigations revealed a police report was lodged by an NGO representative in Klang on Tuesday.

"After being alerted about the alleged abuse, the complainant attempted to contact the children's mother and she was told about what had happened," he said in a statement on Friday (April 7).

He added that the mother then contacted one of her friends to go to the babysitter's house and pick up her children.

"When the friend went to get the children, she noticed that both of them had bruises and welts all over their body believed to be from being caned.

"The children were immediately taken to the Klang Hospital for treatment," he said, adding that the children were discharged on Thursday (April 6).

He said that investigations revealed both children were sent to the babysitter's house in March because their mother had to work in Singapore.

"We have arrested a 24-year-old woman on Wednesday and are investigating the incident under Section 31(1)(a) of the Child Act.

"The Welfare Department has also been notified and is monitoring the case," he said, adding that the suspect had been released on bail.
