BUKIT MERTAJAM: No decision has been made about reviving the construction of SJK(T) Sungai Bakap in South Seberang Prai, says Fadhlina Sidek.
The Education Minister said discussions are ongoing with the school headmaster and representatives on the matter.
"In fact, even today we will meet again to discuss the school," she said, after launching the Smart Classroom programme sponsored by Yayasan Aeon Malaysia and Yayasan Didik Negara.
She said the ministry was still open for a discussion on the education of the children at the school.
She was answering questions posed by journalists about the alleged letter to SJK(T) Sungai Bakap from the state education department dated on March 22.
The letter informed the school that the department did not approve the school’s application to build a two-storey building.
The justification given in the letter was that there are other Tamil schools in the vicinity that could accommodate the pupils of SJK (T) Sungai Bakap.
The proposed project included six classrooms, 12 special rooms and other facilities with an estimated cost of RM14.511mil.
