King, Queen extend Ramadan greetings to Muslims

PETALING JAYA: Yang di-Pertuan Agong Al-Sultan Abdullah Ri'ayatuddin Al-Mustafa Billah Shah and Raja Permaisuri Agong Tunku Hajah Azizah Aminah Maimunah Iskandariah have extended their Ramadan greetings to all Muslims in Malaysia.

With the arrival of Ramadan, Sultan Abdullah urged all Muslims to reap the blessings of the holy month by strengthening their faith and increasing religious activities and good deeds.

“Let's fill the month with good deeds and meaningful pursuits, including strengthening solidarity with one another during this holy month.

"May we be able to observe fasting in the month of Ramadan ideally so that we can be classified with the pious people in the presence of Allah Subhanahu wa Taala," they said in a statement issued by Istana Negara on Wednesday (March 22).

His Majesty also reminded Malaysians not to waste food during the holy month.

"It is very important not to waste food, as food waste is the biggest contributor in the month of Ramadan, especially when breaking the fast.

"This is contrary to Ramadan which should be a month that educates Muslims to be moderate and not wasteful," he said.

His Majesty also hoped that Ramadan this year would be greeted with a sense of repentance and gratitude for the blessings and trials that the Almighty has bestowed upon us.

Their Majesties also invited all Muslims to join them in praying that Malaysia will continue to be blessed and protected from any form of threat and calamity.
