Indonesian detained for groping policewoman


AMPANG: A 58-year-old Indonesian man was detained for allegedly molesting a female police personnel at a food court in AU5 Lembah Keramat.

Ampang Jaya OCPD Asst Comm Mohamad Farouk Eshak said the 30-year-old policewoman was buying food at the food court at about 10.55am on Thursday (Feb 23) when she felt a man groping her from behind.

"She confronted the Indonesian man but he denied it.

"Instead, the suspect, who was having breakfast with his wife, blamed the police personnel for standing in a cramped space," he said when contacted.

Other police personnel who were alerted went to the scene and detained the suspect at about 12.45pm on the same day, he said.

"The suspect has been remanded for further investigation.

"The case is classified under Section 354 of the Penal Code for outraging modesty," he said.
