Khairy debuts in new career as radio host

PETALING JAYA: Former health minister Khairy Jamaluddin began his new career as a radio host on Wednesday (Feb 15).

The former Umno Youth chief was welcomed by radio DJ Mohammad Yazid Lim Mohamad Aziz - better known as Johan - and Muhammad Azmir Selamat.

Khairy and the other DJs talked about various topics including his post-election life last year, with him sharing that he felt "jammed" as he didn't know what to do and constantly thought about his future.

"I thought it was a sure win because so many people were taking selfies with me during the campaign, but in the end, I lost badly," he was quoted in Sinar Harian.

On his reason for taking on the new job, Khairy said he had to wait for three years before getting his government pension and so accepted the offer.

“Apparently, I have to wait until I reach the age of 50 before I can get a pension. Now, I'm only 47 years old. That means I have to wait three more years.

"Because of that, I accepted the offer to be a Hot FM DJ," he said.

During the segment, several listeners also had the chance to chat with Khairy.
