Cops confirm man who stabbed patient at Selayang Hospital arrested


GOMBAK: Police here have confirmed that the suspect who stabbed a patient at the Selayang Hospital on Tuesday (Feb 14) was apprehended there.

In a statement on Wednesday (Feb 15), the Selangor state police said that the suspect is currently being held and treated at the hospital’s psychiatric ward.

“Witnesses saw the 29-year-old victim sitting on the floor when the 22-year-old suspect stabbed his waist with a knife. Investigations are being conducted under Section 326 of the Penal Code for causing grievous injury with a weapon,” said Acting Selangor police chief Deputy Comm Datuk S. Sasikala Devi.

The cause of the attack is still under investigation.

Prior to this, Selangor Health director Datuk Dr Sha’ari Ngadiman said that the victim has regained consciousness and is in stable condition after surgery.

In a statement on Wednesday, Sha’ari said the victim was given emergency treatment and underwent surgery immediately.

He said the patient is currently being monitored at the Intensive Care Unit of the hospital.

“A police report has been lodged by the medical officer who witnessed the incident and the case is under investigation for further action,” he added.
