MACC obtains court order to detain three for falsifying documents

SEREMBAN: The Malaysian Anti Corruption Commission obtained an order from the Magistrate's court here to remand three suspects, including a contractor for allegedly falsifying documents to obtain a project.

Magistrate Noorhafizah Ishak issued a seven-day order to remand the trio, including two others who were self-employed, till Feb 20 to allow the MACC to carry out its probe.

The self-employed suspects, aged 63 and 40 years old, respectively, were detained in Muar, Johor, while the 44-year-old contractor was detained at the MACC office here on Monday (Feb 13).

They are being probed for conspiring to use a company to submit false documents which include a Construction Industry Development Board (CIDB) registration certificate, CIDB documents on government projects obtained and a Bumiputra contractor Certificate to a government department in Muar to secure a RM130,000 project.

They allegedly committed the offence in 2020.

When contacted, state MACC director Awgkok Ahmad Taufik Putra Awg Ismail said the case was being investigated under Section 18 of the MACC Act.
