Cops nab hallucinating guard for attacking student with cement compactor in Glenmarie


SHAH ALAM: A student was assaulted by a security guard who was allegedly hallucinating at Glenmarie here.

Shah Alam OCPD Asst Comm Mohd Iqbal Ibrahim said the incident occurred at around 6.30pm on Saturday (Feb 11) near the Utropolis Market Place, Hicom Glenmarie.

"The victim is a Filipino Form Five student who is studying at the Windsor International Academy at Bukit Jalil.

"The suspect, a 34-year-old security guard, confessed that he assaulted the victim because he was hallucinating at the time," he said in a statement on Sunday (Feb 12).

He added that checks revealed that the suspect has a record of drug-related offences.

"The victim was in the midst of setting up a remote control tank circuit with other individuals when he was assaulted by the suspect with a cement compactor.

"The victim suffered a head injury due to the attack and was rushed to the Sunway Medical Centre for treatment.

"The suspect was caught by members of the public and was handed over to police shortly after," he said, adding that the case has been classified as causing grievous hurt.

He said the suspect has been remanded for four days to help with further investigations.
