Cops call up two aides of Pakatan MPs in probe over Twitter post

KUALA LUMPUR: Two aides to Pakatan Harapan MPs have been called up by the police in connection with an investigation into a Twitter post that alleged Umno Youth's involvement in disrupting a ceramah by Muda in October 2022.

The duo are Noor Suhana Ishak, who is an aide to Bentong MP Young Syefura Othman and Farhan Iqbal, who is Economy Minister Rafizi Ramli's press secretary.

Noor Suhana said she was called up to the Sentul district police headquarters while Farhan had been called up to the Putrajaya police headquarters to have their statements recorded on Thursday (Jan 26).

"I received a call from the investigating officer who set an appointment for me to record my statement at 2pm on Thursday.

"Farhan will have his statement recorded at Putrajaya police headquarters at 10am the same day," she said in a Twitter post.

Kuala Lumpur police chief Comm Datuk Azmi Abu Kassim said the case was being investigated by the Muar district police headquarters in Johor.

"The investigating officer had set up appointments with both individuals to record their statements.

"The case is classified under Section 500 of the Penal Code and Section 233 of the Communication and Multimedia Act," he said when contacted on Wednesday (Jan 25).

On Oct 17 last year, a political talk by Muda was marred by provocation from a group of men wearing black in Muar, Johor.

Videos of the incident showed a group of individuals on motorcycles disrupting the political talk by Muda.

However, the situation was brought under control due to the presence of police personnel.
