Visit Ipoh Year 2023 will not be affected by road paving, improvement works

IPOH: Visit Ipoh Year 2023 will not be affected by projects to pave and improve roads around the city that have yet to be completed.

Mayor Datuk Rumaizi Baharin (pic) said this is because work is still in progress and had been expedited so as not to disrupt the traffic flow in welcoming domestic and foreign tourists.

"Matters related to infrastructure are ongoing and we admit that there are many damaged roads, including the project in front of the Raja Permaisuri Bainun Hospital, but if we do not do it now, when else will it be ready.

"Now we want to see where are the weaknesses and strengths and we to be able to overcome all constraints in conjunction with the Visit Perak Year 2024,” he said after presenting certificates of appreciation and souvenirs to 107 Ipoh City Council retirees at the ‘Jasamu Dikenang 2021’ event here today.

Rumaizi said the projects, operated by Mangkubumi Sdn. Bhd, are expected to be ready by the middle of this year.

It was reported on Nov 27, last year that sewerage upgrade works, which caused traffic congestions, in the city would be completed in June this year.

On Dec 31, Menteri Besar Datuk Seri Saarani Mohamad launched the Visit Ipoh Year 2023 as an effort to highlight Ipoh as one of the must-visit holiday destinations. - Bernama
