GEORGE TOWN: This Chinese New Year will not start with a bang – at least not for the few people who were arrested by the Royal Malaysian Customs Department along with 1.6 tonnes of firecrackers.
The stash of firecrackers was seized during an operation by the department’s marine unit, which raided a shoplot in George Town at about 4.30am on Jan 9.
