Penang CM visits The Star's Pitt Street office for CNY

GEORGE TOWN: Welcoming Chief Minister Chow Kon Yeow for an early Chinese New Year celebration, The Star's Pitt Street office in George Town was a sight of red splendour.

Chow had come over with boxes of oranges for Star Media Group (SMG) employees.

He was accompanied by Deputy Education Minister Lim Hui Ying, state Tourism and Creative Economy Committee chairman Yeoh Soon Hin, state Infrastructure and Transport Committee chairman Zairil Khir Johari, state Youth and Sports Committee chairman Soon Lip Chee and state Environment and Welfare Committee chairman Phee Boon Poh, among others.

During the visit, they also took the opportunity to toss yee sang with SMG client brand marketing (bureaus) general manager Simone Liong and senior news editor Alex Teng as well as other SMG staff.

Loud shouts for prosperity and wishes of "Gong Xi Fa Cai" could be heard in the background as they tossed for a better year.

They then all sat down for lunch, with a spread of local dishes and desserts.
