Covid-19 Watch: 287 new cases, says Health Ministry


PETALING JAYA: Malaysia recorded 287 new Covid-19 infections on Saturday (Jan 14), says the Health Ministry.

The Health Ministry said through data released on its KKMNow portal on Sunday (Jan 15) that this brings the new total to 5,032,433 cases since the pandemic began.

Of the 287, there is one imported case and the remaining 286 are local.

The ministry also said through its KKMNow portal that there were 590 recoveries on Saturday, bringing the total number of active cases in Malaysia to 10,634.

Of the active cases, 95.7% or 10,175 individuals are undergoing home quarantine, while 4.1% of active cases or 439 individuals need to be hospitalised, with 20 warded in intensive care units (ICU) throughout the country.

Of the 20, seven require ventilator support.
