KOTA KINABALU: A unity government for Sabah would benefit its people and all parties in the state, says Parti Kesejahteraan Demoktratik Malaysia (KDM).
Supporting Prime Minister Datuk Seri Anwar Ibrahim's call for a unity government to be formed to end the current political impasse in Sabah, KDM president Datuk Peter Anthony said this was a win-win situation for all.
He said issues revolving around Sabah politics from grassroots level up to the top leadership could be resolved with this.
"Among assemblymen, we need a workable and strong team to work together. Meaning we need to interact with local community leaders, district level officials and others as this is important for us as representatives that support the government currently," said Anthony.
"I, together with Limbahau rep Datuk Juil Nuatim and Bandau assemblyman Datuk Wetrom Bahanda, support this suggestion by the Prime Minister and Deputy Prime Minister," he said in a statement Tuesday (Jan 10).
He urged Chief Minister Datuk Seri Hajiji Noor to consider the proposal to form a unity government.
On the tabling of two state Bills – one for gas supply and the other to set up the Sabah Energy Commission – in a special state assembly sitting on Tuesday (Jan 10), Anthony said KDM supported the Bills.
"As state representatives, we would support whatever initiatives or policies that benefit Sabah and its people," he said.
