Star Media Group chief mailroom technician Jaya Kumar passes away at 46

PETALING JAYA: Star Media Group’s chief mailroom technician Jaya Kumar Arumugam has passed away at the age of 46.

He was travelling home after a night shift in post printing operations, where they pack, stack and ship out newspaper bundles at the Star Media Hub in Bukit Jelutong, Shah Alam, when he was involved in a traffic accident early Sunday (Jan 1) morning.

Jaya Kumar’s immediate superior, senior executive, post press operation, Nadarajah Ratnam described him as a kind, cooperative, diligent teammate who never talked badly about others.

Nadarajah, who had known Jaya Kumar since before he joined Star Media Group, said the death came as a sudden shock.

Jaya Kumar, who served in Star Media Group for 26 years, joined the company as a member of the Circulation Department in 1996.

Jaya Kumar leaves behind his wife, Gunaselvi Batumalasamy, 39, and two daughters, Trilochana and Tanesha, aged 9 and 6 years old, respectively.

His funeral service will be held at his residence in Bandar Putra Permai, Selangor, on Tuesday (Jan 3).
