KL cops issue 372 summonses during New Year's Eve operation

KUALA LUMPUR: A total of 26 roadblocks were conducted in various spots in the city here on New Year's Eve.

Kuala Lumpur deputy police chief Deputy Comm Datuk Yahaya Othman said police issued 372 summonses for various offences while 10 motorcycles were seized for having illegal modifications.

"Inspections were conducted on 619 motorcycles, 171 cars, 19 vans and 32 jeeps.

"We also conducted checks on 848 road users," he said after the special operation on Sunday (Jan 1).

A total of 12 motorcycle riders aged between 15 and 21 were detained for riding dangerously, he said.

"We also detained four other individuals for driving while under the influence of alcohol," he added.
