PETALING JAYA: Police are investigating the alleged trespass of two foreigners who scaled the world’s second tallest structure – the Merdeka 118 Tower.

Dang Wangi OCPD Asst Comm Noor Dellhan Yahaya said the management of the tower has lodged a report on the matter.

“We have received the report and we will investigate,” he said when contacted.

The tower management has also launched an investigation into the incident.

A PNB Merdeka Ventures Sdn Bhd spokesman said legal action would be taken against any person found trespassing at the site.

“We wish to highlight that the Merdeka 118 development is still very much a live construction site and safety remains our priority.

“As it is private property, any trespassers will be held accountable to the fullest extent of the law.

“We are providing our full support and cooperation to the authorities on this matter,” said the spokesman in a statement yesterday.

On Wednesday, photographs of two climbers on top of the building went viral on social media.

This prompted Malaysians to question security measures in the area and asked if the climbers had obtained permission from the management.

The climbers have been identified as Ivan Beerkus and Angela Nikolau, known for risky climbs, with numerous photographs of their acts uploaded on their Instagram accounts.
