Two senior citizens lose their lives after ATV plunges into ravine

PONTIAN: Two male senior citizens were killed after the all-terrain vehicle (ATV) they were travelling in plunged into a ditch at Jalan Kampung Seri Gambut, Pekan Nanas, near here.

Pekan Nanas Fire and Rescue station chief Iqbal Raduan said the incident took place on Thursday (Dec 22).

"We deployed six fire fighters from the station upon receiving an emergency call on the incident at 7.06pm," he said in a statement Thursday.

Iqbal said a Fire Rescue Tender (FRT) and a utility vehicle were used in the operation led by senior officer II Hairon Nizam Zainal.

"The victims in their 60s were pronounced dead by the medical team from the Health Ministry at the scene," he said.

The operation ended at 8.05pm.
