PASIR GUDANG: The Pasir Gudang City Council (MBPG) will be organising a working visit to Satun, Thailand next year as part of the council's efforts to strengthen bilateral ties between the two townships.

Pasir Gudang mayor Datuk Asman Shah Abd Rahman said that the visit is part of the international Pasir Gudang World Kite Festival that is held annually every February.

“Satun has been one of our important partners in organising the World Kite Festival, which would usually start in the town before coming all the way to Pasir Gudang on the third week of February and it is continuing in other countries.

“So next year we plan to visit our counterparts there to refresh some of the initiatives that we can look into and strengthen what we have done so far,” he said when met after chairing the MBPG monthly meeting at Menara Aqabah, here, on Monday (Dec 19).

Asman Shah shared that about 20 delegates from the council will be involved in the working visit to introduce the city council abroad.

“We have also recently organised a trip to Mount Kinabalu from Dec 12 to 15 under our ‘Ringkas dan Tangkas’ programme where we aim to introduce MBPG locally.

“The next trip is to Sipadan Island in Semporna, Sabah, in January next year,” he said, adding that there were 20 staff members from various departments involved in the trip to Kundasang.

Besides introducing Pasir Gudang, the programme also aims to foster closer working ties among the staff at MBPG, he added.
