Batang Kali landslide: Volunteers not allowed to help in SAR operations, says IGP

HULU SELANGOR: Volunteers will not be allowed to help in the search and rescue (SAR) operations at the landslide site at Father's Organic Farm here, says Tan Sri Acryl Sani Abdullah Sani.

The Inspector-General of Police said the SAR operations were led by the Fire and Rescue Department and they will determine who can be involved.

"Based on our current assessment of the area, the situation is not suitable for members of the public to come in and assist.

"The operations are currently limited to the Fire and Rescue Department and they will decide which agencies can join the SAR," he told reporters at the scene.

He said the reason for this decision is because the area is large and it could lead to the situation becoming chaotic.
