Batang Kali landslide: Selangor Bomba leading team of 446 in SAR op, says Amirudin

PETALING JAYA: The Selangor Fire and Rescue Department is leading search and rescue (SAR) operations for the estimated 20 people still missing in the Batang Kali landslide, says Mentri Besar Datuk Seri Amirudin Shari.

He said the SAR mission involved 446 personnel from multiple government agencies at the Father's Organic Farm site.

He added that government agencies were also on site to coordinate any incoming aid through the Selangor Disaster Management Unit.

“This morning (Friday, Dec 16) the nation was shocked by a landslide at a camping site in Kampung Kuantan, in the Hulu Selangor district.

“I offer my condolences to the victims who died in this tragedy,” Amirudin said in a statement.

Amirudin added that he would head to the disaster area at night, together with Prime Minister Datuk Seri Anwar Ibrahim.
