Batang Kali landslide: Evacuation centre for victims ready to be activated if needed, says deputy minister

HULU SELANGOR: An evacuation centre for victims of the landslide at the campsite at Father's Organic Farm is ready to be activated if it is necessary, says the Women, Family and Community Development Ministry.

“As of now, there is no plan to open a PPS (temporary evacuation centre) because all the victims are here and it is understood that family members will pick them up.

"Regardless, it is on standby with SK Ulu Yam being chosen as the location if it is required,” Deputy Minister Aiman Athirah Sabu said at a press conference at the Ulu Yam police station on Friday (Dec 16).

She added that a counsellor has been deployed here to help victims.

“A counsellor is on hand to aid them as there are those in trauma due to family members who are still missing. If there is a need, we are ready to add more help.

“The counsellor is here to help victims calm down because at this point, if we have them recall what happened, it will complicate matters now,” she said.
