Avoid conflicts, time to move forward post-GE15, state speaker tells Johor reps

ISKANDAR PUTERI: Johor state assemblymen have been reminded to adjust to the country’s new political climate following the 15th General Election’s (GE15) unprecedented results.

State speaker Datuk Dr Mohd Puad Zarkashi (pic) told assemblymen to avoid causing conflicts either when attending assembly sittings or when serving the public outside of the hall.

“The country is still in a collective adjustment situation following the unexpected result of GE15. We, in this hall, should also make similar adjustments as we move forward.

“As such, I urge all assemblymen here to continue being judicious and avoid conflicts, especially those based on race and religion either in this hall or outside,” he said during the state assembly sitting at Kota Iskandar here on Thursday (Dec 8).

Puad also congratulated the winners of the Padang Serai parliamentary seat and Tioman state seat.

The Padang Serai seat was won by Perikatan Nasional candidate Datuk Azman Nasrudin with a 16,206 majority while Datuk Seri Mohd Johari Hussain retained the Tioman state seat for Barisan Nasional.
