Anwar: Govt to continue focus on strengthening, empowering the disabled community


PETALING JAYA: The government will continue to focus on strengthening and empowering the disabled community through comprehensive policies, says Datuk Seri Anwar Ibrahim.

The Prime Minister has called on all Malaysians to stop discriminating people with disabilities and to provide them opportunities to contribute towards the country’s development.

"The unity government which I'm leading will continue to focus on strengthening and empowering the disabled community through comprehensive policies.

"Despite facing physical and mental challenges, the disabled should be given the opportunity to contribute their efforts and wisdom in various fields in this country, especially in terms of developing the community and the country," he said in a Facebook post.

He also urged Malaysians to embrace all efforts and protect those in need, including the disabled.

The International Day of Disabled Persons is celebrated every year on Dec 3.
