KOTA KINABALU: Chief of Navy Admiral Tan Sri Mohd Reza Mohd Sany hopes the new government will consider streamlining the budget of Malaysian Armed Forces (MAF) in stages from 1 per cent to 1.5 per cent of the Gross Domestic Product (GDP) so that the defence capability could be adapted to the current security scenario.

He said without the appropriate allocation, it could affect the ability to maintain a high level of preparedness against threats, especially those affecting national security.
