SHAH ALAM: Police seized more than RM6.14mil worth of syabu after arresting a former e-hailing driver at Bandar Sunway on Nov 30.
Deputy Selangor police chief Deputy Comm Datuk Sasikala Devi Subramaniam said police from the Subang Jaya Narcotic Crime Investigation Department raided a house at Bandar Sunway at around 3pm on Nov 30.
"Our team received information about drug distribution activities and conducted surveillance for one week before they raided the house.
"Checks at the house revealed over 170.58kg of methamphetamines in 166 plastic packets.
"A portion of the drugs were in 111 packets of refined chinese tea," she told reporters at the Selangor police headquarters on Friday(Dec 2).
She said interrogations of the suspect revealed he had been actively distributing drugs for at least two months.
"Further checks also revealed the suspect had a prior record for illegal gambling related offences.
"Our investigations also revealed the drugs were from another country," she said, adding that the drugs were meant to be distributed within the Klang Valley area.
DCP Sasikala Devi said police also seized a Honda car from the suspect.
"We have obtained a seven-day remand order on the suspect from Dec 1," she said.
