KUALA LUMPUR: A total of 33 areas recorded Air Pollutant Index (API) readings at unhealthy levels as of 11am Saturday, with Batu Pahat, Johor, recording the highest reading at 188.
According to the Environment Department's (DOE) Air Pollutant Index Management System (APIMS) portal, other areas in Johor recording unhealthy API levels were Tangkak (186), Larkin (184), Pasir Gudang (184), Segamat (181), Kluang (176), Kota Tinggi (172), and Pengerang (169).
In Negri Sembilan, the affected areas were Seremban (182), Nilai (178), and Port Dickson (164), while in Melaka, three areas were affected - Alor Gajah (173), Bukit Rambai (173) and Melaka City (172).
Six areas in Selangor also recorded unhealthy API readings: Shah Alam (166), Johan Setia (164), Petaling Jaya (161), Klang (156), Banting (153), and Kuala Selangor (152); meanwhile, in Perak, the areas were Tasek Ipoh (173), Pegoh Ipoh (170), Tanjung Malim (168), and Seri Manjung (151).
Batu Muda and Cheras in the capital recorded readings of 169 and 174 respectively, while Putrajaya recorded an API of 167.
Other affected areas include Rompin (168), Temerloh (124), and Indera Mahkota Kuantan (144) in Pahang; Seberang Perai (113) in Penang; as well as Kuching (154) and Samarahan (108) in Sarawak.
Meanwhile, 35 areas nationwide recorded Air Pollutant Index (API) readings at the moderate level.
API readings between 0 and 50 indicate good air quality; 51 to 100, moderate; 101 to 200, unhealthy; 201 to 300, very unhealthy; while readings exceeding 300 are considered hazardous. - Bernama
