Blogger CheguBard called in by Mersing cops over comments on mining


JOHOR BARU: Police will call up blogger Badrul Hisham Shaharin, better known as CheguBard, for questioning on Wednesday (Nov 30) over a police report lodged against him.

The report was made over issues Badrul Hisham had raised about sand and gold mining in Mersing.

"We are investigating the matter under the Election Offences Act 1954 and Communications and Multimedia Act 1998," Mersing OCPD Supt Cyril Edward Nuing said after the Johor-level monthly police assembly here on Wednesday.

Supt Cyril said that police only wanted to record Badrul Hisham's statement at the moment.

In a recent Facebook post, Badrul Hisham said he was told that an investigation paper would be opened on him.

The report, lodged on Nov 17, concerned issues Badrul Hisham had brought up about mining activities which he claimed had a negative impact on the local population.

He is expected to give his statement at 2.30pm at Mersing police headquarters.
